Northwest hospital is a major location of the LifeBridge Health system. Northwest hospital is a non-profit care center. The center’s construction and practice is based upon the Friesen Concept, meaning that there are nursing alcoves outside patient rooms for greater nurse care and attention. The hospital is made up of small 20-bed units, with a total of 254 beds. The Sheppard Pratt System has a number of locations, the most prominent of which is the main Sheppard & Enoch Pratt Hospital located in Baltimore. The main center is designed for psychiatric care, and the system overall specializes in treatments of mental health disorders: addiction, Alzheimer’s, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, autism, PTSD, and traumatic brain injuries. The hospital treats both adults and children, but patients must request for admittance into the inpatient program. The hospital provides a “day hospital” for outpatients where they can remain at the hospital for the day for treatment, and return home at the end of the day.

The center now houses 425 beds across its 200-acre campus. The center focuses on inpatient psychiatric services for both adults and children. It is owned and operated by the state.
